Most of the events happening around this world at this present age, are marked by wars, rumours of war, conflicts, military confrontations, tensions and divisions even among the authorities, within the governments of great nations, thus lead many peoples to the view that a third world war might possibly break out one day that will bring total destruction of the whole planet. Many among the peoples nowadays do not even mention or believe the things written in the bible about the end of this present world.
God indeed will bring the end to this world at the return of our Lord Jesus Christ, because with some discernment we can clearly see or hear through the news on TV, or various socio medias, the events of the end times season that Jesus predicted in the Bible, which are signaling that Jesus return is imminent.
The world or the entire universe was made by God because He wanted it made. He thinks the world is good, and He loves it as it is written in the book of Genesis. It is His world; He has never renounced or abandoned it. And He has never revoked the conditions, bearing on His gift to us of the use of it, that oblige us to take excellent care of it. If God loves the world, then how might we as people of faith putting our trust/confidence in Him, be excused for not loving it or justified in destroying it?Among the activities of antichrist, I would mention his influence within the church, to turn the minds and eyes of the believers, towards lust and pride of life, to become lovers of the things of this world more than what the truth of word of the God is teaching us to practice. This can be observed when some of us moving away from the congregation, forsaking the assembling of the brethren together, which could sometimes lead to some ending up denying their Christian faith starting to believe the lies of the enemy.
As Christ followers, we are called to consider one another, stir up love and good works, exhorting one another, as we see the Day of the Lord approaching. Our position toward deception is to be watchful in our prayer lives, let the word of the Lord which we heard from the beginning and brought faith into our hearts, abide in us. We should hold fast the confession of our hope and stand firmly on the promise, which is eternal life, while feeding ourselves on God’s faithfulness. We should be praying to the Lord to grant us the spirit of wisdom and discernment which enable us to test the spirits, whether they are of God or not, because many false prophets have emerged in the world in these end times seasonsWe see in the book of Acts chapter1, that the disciples were so concerned to know the time when the Lord Jesus will restore the kingdom to Israel. However, His focus was not about the times or seasons when this event will come to pass, but that they may receive the power through the move of the Holy Spirit in order to go and witness of Him everywhere. This is shows clearly that while we are waiting and preparing for the return of the King, we should actively be involved in fulfilling the great commission in various aspects, whether by standing in the gap to pray for the salvation of many souls who are still in darkness, or being supporting partners of global Evangelistic ministries, missions reaching out to peoples from different backgrounds and cultures around the world, as it is written in the book of Revelation 5:9b,10, He has redeemed us by His blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, or being involved in evangelism in our local churches etc., and only when we as disciples of Christ at this present age of end times are fully occupied by these activities as mentioned above, thus fulfilling what He said in Matthew 24:14, then the end will come and we can truly see the glorious return of the King of kings and Lord of the lords.
In Mark 16:15, we read about the great commission Lord Jesus gave to the disciples to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. As believers and disciples in this present age, we are called to be engaged in fulfilling this mission as it is the heartbeat of Christ and His body which is the church. Jesus went to the cross of cavalry to lay down His life as ransom for the entire mankind, and in 1Timothy 2:3,4 the Apostle Paul emphasized that God’s desire is that all men be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth, meaning that the objective for all of us within the church, is to get involved in reaching out to those around us, and also supporting God’s messenger who can go to places we can’t go, and see as many souls as possible receive the good news of salvation and hope through Jesus Christ, see the Kingdom of heaven being populated with saved souls, those redeemed by the blood of the Lamb. Hallelujah!
This lesson taught me that the Lord Jesus intents by mentioning all these events which we now study as the signs of the end times (e.g., that many will come claiming to be the Messiah, wars will happen, pestilence, famines and earthquakes in various places etc.,), was not to alarm us or instill fear in our hearts but to prepare us and raise our awareness that those things must come to pass first, before the end of the present age. Therefore, instead of being fearful and worried, we as Christ disciples are called to be courageous, watchful and prayerful so that we may be counted worthy to escape all these things in order to stand before the Lord at His return.
Hello Beloved Brethren,
Every time I meditate on these two passages of Scriptures: I Corinthians 15 and Philippians 3:20,21 it becomes, I get a real spiritual boost inside of me to realize that one the purpose of Jesus second coming is to raise the dead in Christ, and to transform us. This in itself is a very fascinating event for every newborn Christian to see this lowly body we have at the moment being completely transformed and made conformed to His glorious body. Because Christ is risen, we who believe in His finished work on the cross of Calvary, we will rise indeed and be with our Lord forever, oh Hallelujah!
Blessings on you All
The promise the Lord Jesus spoke to the disciples then, which is extended to us who believe and have also become His disciples, will be fulfilled indeed, because He is faithful and true. However, referring to His statements in John 14: 1-3, one my prayers to the Lord is to guard our hearts and thoughts to the point that we are not troubled by the challenges we may face personally or by the disasters/tragedies that are happening at the moment in different places of this planet, while we are waiting for His second coming, when Believers in Christ will be saved from the presence of evil. Waiting requires not only patience, but also endurance, and this is what we all need and always reminding ourselves of what He said in Matthew 24:13 ”But he who endures to the end will be saved”. Peace and blessings on you all.
The day I received Jesus Christ in my heart, I sensed deeply in my spirit that I passed from death into life, my eternity with the Lord is now eternally secured. Every time I read or follow the story about the birth of my Savior, it becomes more and more alive inside of me that He was born and came into the world to save me. Jesus’ first coming is the most beautiful and precious gift of God the Father to the entire mankind. Jesus was born to save us from our sins. By believing in His finished work at Calvary, We receive forgiveness of our sins from God because of Jesus’ death on the cross. This biblical truth is really life changing, and truly brings us to a place where we start to experience the fullness of life, the inner strength to look forward and wait with endurance for the Lord’s second coming that He himself promised the disciples.
Hi Sister Trisha,
I was also blessed to go through your comments and especially reading the point you have made about the introduction paper 1.1 of stating that bible verses were only applicable in the time period they were given, and stating those two passages. However, having made some effort to read again what was written in lesson 1, I have gained some clarity on the meaning of Last Days especially reading Hebrews 1:1- 2 stating the following: “In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son.’’I understood that based on this scripture, this term “the last days” does not always refer to the end of the world, but mostly it refers to the present age or the church age, which began since the first coming of our Lord Jesus. We are living in the church age. I agree and also believe that all scripture is for all generations. In Romans 15:4, the Apostle Paul quoted: ‘’For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.’’
The example 2 Peter 3.3, 2 Timothy 3.1. are the passages taken from the Epistles. Since the New Testament epistles are directed to churches and individuals in the church, they most directly apply to us today. Most commands given in the epistles are general enough in nature that we need to obey them, or in the case of promises we can claim them. For example, in 1 Corinthians 15 there is a promise given for immortal bodies and eventual victory over death. These promises are not just for those in the local Corinthian church but the universal church of God in which we are a part. Hope this could help.
Blessings on you too.
Bro JohnHi every everyone, after I have gone through the additional study material provided for lesson one, which is worth reading from my view, I really share the opinion that the module will not only bring broad knowledge about the second coming of Jesus, but will also gain more clarity and helped us gain deeper understanding on this very crucial topic regarding the interpretation of the holy scriptures. For instance, one the principles from this material teaches us that Interpretations must be done in the context of the passage, and context determines the meaning.
For example, I have learned that if we only look at this one verse in Revelation 3:20 which is sometimes used as an illustration for evangelism, it would be easy to understand the verse in terms of someone asking Jesus into his or her life for the first time. But the context in the preceding verse (v. 19) is talking about discipline of those whom Jesus loves, which would most naturally refer to believers. Also, in looking at the larger paragraph of the same chapter the passage refers to a church. Therefore, brethren let us continue to dig deep in the lessons in order to get the maximum out of the resources made available for us in this course.Brother John Kiembi
