The way this chapter 24 of Matthew was broken down to different segments made it interesting to read and follow through. The sizeable segments helped to foster focus and understanding. One section that stood out as new knowledge is the term Dual fulfilment. That is immediate and distant fulfilment, using Isaiah 7:14 as a reference.
The section on the signs of his coming are quite intriguing especially the second (Antichrist and Great distress) and the third
(Cosmic Destruction). I can see that i need to study more on this aspects of the signs of his coming as they are not clear cut to me on how they will be unfolding or are already unfolding.
However, what became clearer from this chapter of Matthew 24 is the fact that Jesus gave the prophesy for his disciples to Always be prepared for his coming. Jesus’ admonition on the signs was said to foster watchfulness and readiness of his disciples. The lesson for me as a disciple of Christ is learning that the remedy for all predictions is my own personal readiness to meet him. Truly this the core of the message rather than getting engrossed in debates about what is cosmic destruction or “The distress”. Nevertheless, i am looking forward to learning more and having a better and confident understanding of this chapter.

    Yes Hephzibah,
We will be saved from the scourging hell fire because Jesus paid it all.
A old hymn by Elvina M Hall (1865) titled “Jesus Paid it all”, the chorus goes like this..
” Jesus paid it all, all to him I owe. Sin had left a crimson stain, he washed it white as snow”
I guess that says it all.

    Hello Lavanya,

I totally agree with your write up that Jesus has paid for the wages of sin and I add to that the penalty of sin over our lives. This is what is motivating us to keep keeping on so that we will be clothed with a glorious body and away permanently from the presence of sin. Glory! Halleluyah!!

My feelings at the fact that Jesus is coming back for me makes me conscious of my life and how I am spending my days. I am aware of the presence of sin and my mortal flesh and can relate to Paul in Romans 7. My utmost desire is to meet him when he calls or when he comes. Therefore I live daily to hear the daily instructions of the Holy Spirit and obey him as required.

My feelings and thoughts about my body been glorified at Jesus’ coming, is that of complete transformation and delight. The scripture clearly stated and acknowledged that our outward man is perishing, decaying or wasting away, yet our inward man is renewed day by day
( 2 Corinthians 4:16). This suggests to me that the priority of my preparation to meet the Lord is to daily renew my mind. This does not mean to neglect the care of my physical body, but to understand that no matter what I do it is still subject to decay until Jesus’s second coming.

    Dear Ajit Moses,

Thank you for your wonderful testimony of been a Pastor’s Kid (PK). Reading through your testimony was powerful and reassuring about the fact that God is a Covenant keeping God. My husband and I are both Pastors with one child, a son who is just going 28 years. Recently we began to notice him committing himself personally to the love and Lordship of Jesus Christ. We noticed that in the past 3 to 4 years he began to experience some. changes in his own life that his leading him to Christ more and more. We have never stopped praying for his personal encounter with the Lord. Your testimony reinforces this experience . I thank God for his faithfulness.

    Dear Prem kumar Lee,

Thank you for your testimony as I can relate to the aspect of you indulging in alcohol from such a tender age. Such was my experience.I was so fortunate in that I was just getting into binge drinking, when I had an encounter with the Lord Jesus who redeem my life from
further destruction right on time. Now I look back and understand that I was thirsty and searching for something that can satisfy me. Then came Jesus and quenched my thirst. I’m glad that he did yours too.

I was brought up in a Muslim heritage that I can describe as ceremonial as we only observed the festive periods. From a very young age I began to ask inner questions like who am I? Why am I? What am I doing here? Who is God?. As I got older I was drawn to Zodiac signs, palms reading and also wanted to study philosophy at University. I was thirsty and searching desperately for the meaning of live but like most of us first went looking in the wrong direction.
Until the Lord led me through a friend to a Foursquare Gospel Church in 1986 where the preacher spoke on Isaiah 55:1-5 and made an altar call urging to accept Jesus as my Lord and Saviour and the rest is history to date. My life was transformed inside out. I have never thirst again. My thirst now is to know him more and better. An hymn titled, “I heard the voice of Jesus say” that I had learnt during my primary school days has become my salvation mantra. Definitely my salvation experience has caused me to know the purpose of Christ’s first coming was and is to save me.

I have always been fascinated about the second coming of our Lord Jesus and one of my favourite bible chapters on this topic is Matthew 24. However, i have always known that there are gaps in my understanding and so passionately wanted to know more about this doctrine so that i can confidently share the bible passages with understanding with other people and in the church setting particularly. Another motivation for me to take this course is that i do not want to be misinformed neither do i want to misinform others because of various views that i know abound even from personal discussions in informal settings.
