COURSE DESCRIPTION
Genesis 1-11 raises several questions about the origins. Creation or evolution or both? Did the human race come from a single parent? Were Adam and Eve historical persons? Was Noah’s flood global or local or myth? Any link between Noah’s flood and fossil records? Was the Tower of Babel the origin of many languages? Have you ever thought about how Genesis 1-11 linked to Israel?
The historical period dates back to Abraham in Genesis 12. However, Genesis 1–11 deals with the pre-historic period and contains some of the most familiar stories in the Bible. In its ancient context, this collection was not a simple historical record. This course provides an analysis of Genesis 1:1-11:9, looking at the background, the literary structure, the original meaning, the theological purpose, and modern applications. The core of the course is based on the lecture series, The Primeval History, presented by Dr. Richard L. Pratt, Jr. and produced by Third Millennium Ministries.
The contemporary debates on the questions of origins are compiled by Dr. Joshua Iyadurai. The conflict between the biblical accounts and scientific theories on the origin of human life on the earth, human sinful nature, Noah’s flood and fossils records, evolution and the origin of languages, and other related controversies are dealt with as part of this course. You will be exposed to different perspectives on these issues to enable you to see the biblical accounts in a fresh light. You will learn from top scientists and biblical scholars. These lessons deal with scientific concepts and theories, which will help you relate Genesis 1 – 11 to contemporary scientific claims.
This online course will equip you to intelligently discuss how the Bible is relevant despite the scientific claims and make sense of the Christian faith today. THEOn (Theology Online) delivers the course content to you through its e-learning platform and facilitates a cohort for this course.

2. Reading Quiz: After completing the required reading for each lesson, attempt the reading quiz for each lesson.
